About Potter County Community Garden
The Potter County Community Garden is a thriving space that fosters connection, sustainability, and the joys of gardening. Thanks to the vision of the Potter County Commissioners and funding from UPMC, this beautiful garden, located on Water Street across from the Gunzburger Building, was established to empower individuals and families to plant, grow, and harvest their own produce. With 33 raised garden beds, 4 of which are handicap-accessible planting stations, a pollinator garden, a composting plot, and a two storage sheds, the garden is designed to serve gardeners of all abilities. The garden's mission is fourfold: to empower community members to grow fresh produce, provide education on gardening, promote social interaction and unity, and address food insecurity. In 2024, the garden partnered with the Coudersport High School FFA program to distribute over 144 free tomato, pepper, and kale plants, grown by students and made available to gardeners in spring. Additionally, in 2023, the Coudersport High School Industrial Arts department, led by teacher Mike Ingalls, constructed a custom bench and bulletin board combo for the garden, which was installed by the Potter County Maintenance crew. This feature not only enhances communication but also creates a gathering space where gardeners can socialize, share tips, and celebrate the growing season. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, the Potter County Community Garden is a space to grow food, build relationships, and create lasting memories. Reserve your plot today and join this vibrant community!.
